Ronald Ameral Fatally Struck in Placerville Hit-and-Run Crash, Efrain Gonzalez Arrested
Placerville, CA (April 24, 2021) On Friday, Ronald Ameral, 64, died in a hit-and-run accident on Broadway Drive.
Moreover, according to Placerville police, around 8:31 p.m. multiple reports came in about a dark-colored sedan striking a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they found a man with serious injuries on the street.
Immediately, paramedics took the pedestrian that was struck to a hospital, where he died due to the injuries.
According to witnesses, the sedan initially stopped, but then hastily drove away. The suspect car was last seen driving east on broadway.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the deadly crash. Additionally, they are looking for more witnesses, and urge them to call the Placerville PD at 530-642-5210.
Later reports identified the deceased as Ronald Ameral, apparently a transient.
Later reports say the police identified the suspect of the hit and run as Efrain Gonzalez, 20. The Placerville man and his vehicle were discovered at his home on Friday.
Shortly after, he confessed, and is now at the El Dorado County Jail, facing manslaughter charges.
