CORNING, CA (December 26, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Rohit Rekhi died in a vehicle vs pedestrian crash on Interstate 5.
 
The incident happened at around 2:11 p.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 5 north of Corning.
 
According to reports, a semi-truck drove south within the rest area parking lot at an estimated speed of 5 miles per hour. Then, the 27-year-old passenger, Rohit Rekhi of Woodland, exited the vehicle via the right front door. He jumped while the semi was still in motion.
 
Then, the right rear tires run over Rehki and left him with fatal injuries. Then, emergency medical personnel declared Rehki deceased at the scene.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
 
Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that impairment played a role in the crash.
