Rodolfo Rodriguez Killed in Santa Maria Pedestrian Crash on South Broadway

Rodolfo Rodriguez Hit and Killed by Vehicle on South Broadway Near Plaza Drive

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (December 31, 2018) – An 84-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in the 1400 block of South Broadway near Plaza Drive.
 
Officers responded to reports of a vehicle and pedestrian collision around 6 p.m. Rodolfo Tovar Rodriguez was the 84-year-old victim found in the southbound lanes with grave injuries. He was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center where he died, according to Santa Maria police Lt. Russ Mengel.
 
Police have determined that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
They have investigated so far that Rodriguez was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by the vehicle. Officers are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. Anyone with insight is encouraged to call Officer Javier Velazquez at 805-928-3781.
