Roman Velasco Involved in Laredo Fatal Collision
Laredo, TX (March 23, 2023) – On Tuesday, Robin Rodriguez, 29, a Laredo I.S.D. Police Officer, died in a Clark Boulevard traffic collision.
The fatal collision took place at the intersection with Cedar Avenue.
The Laredo Police stated that Rodriguez was eastbound on his motorcycle on Clark Boulevard when a westbound pick-up truck hauling a trailer crossed the intersection traveling south on Cedar Avenue.
The pick-up truck and the motorcycle collided.
Sadly, Robin Rodriguez died from his injuries at a Laredo hospital.
Officers said Roman Velasco, the truck driver, fled the scene right after the accident.
Investigator Joe Baeza said, “A person drove up and spoke to one of the officers at the location saying that in the vehicle there was a passenger, who was the person who was actually driving the pick-up truck with the trailer, he actually returned to the location, he was identified as Roman Velasco, 52-years of age”, said Investigator Joe Baeza. “After questioning, after consulting the DA’s office, they went ahead and charged him with accidental involving death felony two.”
Officers took Velasco to the hospital for a blood sampling.
