32-Year-Old Roberto Rodriguez Involved in Pursuit Crash on Cooper Street [Arlington, TX]

Several Transported Following Vehicle Collision on Cooper Street

Arlington, TX (March 1, 2024) – 32-year-old Roberto Rodriguez and others were injured following a pursuit crash on Cooper Street Thursday evening.

It was about 6:10 p.m. when the authorities responded to a shooting report in the 1900 block area of Chalice Road.

Witnesses at the scene said a group of teens were fighting and one of the teens fired a gun before they dispersed.

The authorities later located one of the teens involved in the fight. He admitted to the officers that one of those involved had a handgun and a shot was fired. Luckily, no one was hit or seriously injured due to the shooting.

Then at around 9:30 p.m., officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle along Pioneer Parkway. Troopers attempted to pull the vehicle over but Roberto Rodriguez sped away. Thus, officers started a pursuit.

Rodriguez sped westbound along Pioneer Parkway and collided with another vehicle as he approached Cooper Street. Police added another vehicle was also hit.

Rodriguez got out of the vehicle and attempted to run but the authorities apprehended and took him to a hospital with minor injuries. 

Police said Rodriguez would be booked and charged with evading arrest causing serious bodily injury and abandoning/endangering a child once cleared from the hospital.

Moreover, a 25-year-old and two teens who were riding in Rodriguez’s car were also taken to an area hospital. 

The paramedics also took two other people from the other two cars to an area hospital with non-life-threatening.

Investigating offices believe one of the teens in Rodriguez’s car was involved in the shooting. According to the authorities, the teen will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon once the hospital releases him. Officers located a gun in Rodriguez’s car.
