Robert Thurmond Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Van Buren Boulevard Near Jurupa Road

 
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (March 26, 2019) – A 56-year-old pedestrian died Saturday when a hit-and-run vehicle struck him on Van Buren Boulevard near Jurupa Road.
 
According to the Riverside County sheriff-coroner officials, Robert Thurmond passed away at the scene within minutes of the 4:40 a.m. crash.
 
The Jurupa Valley Police Department and other emergency personnel responded to find a man lying in the roadway with obvious signs of trauma.
 
Upon arrival, investigators learned that the victim sustained injuries consistent with that of being hit by a car. However, officials are seeking the driver involved in this deadly incident.
 
During the preliminary investigation, deputies determined that the Riverside man ran from the Chevron gas station across Van Buren Boulevard when the incident occurred. Deputies have yet to determine if impairment played a role, but as of now, are seeking witnesses’ help.
