28-Year-Old-Man Dies in Afternoon 2-Vehicle Crash in Thousand Palms
THOUSAND PALMS, CA (November 27, 2019) – A man died following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Thousand Palms.
The crash happened around 2:32 p.m. at the intersection of Varner Road and Jack Ivey Drive, less than a mile from the Ivey Ranch Country Club.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Varner Road when it collided with a white Ford pickup truck.
As a result, the male driver of the Honda suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified him as 28-year-old Robert Brian Grajiola Jr. of Thousand Palms.
The driver of the pickup truck escaped injury and cooperated with authorities.
Varner Road was closed for over two hours while the CHP conducted a preliminary investigation and cleared the wreckage.
Witnesses indicated that speed may have been a factor in the crash, but no other details were available.
