83-Year-Old Male Bicyclist Fatally Struck near Awma Road in Laguna Niguel

 
LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA (March 20, 2020) – An 83-year-old man identified as Robert Calvin of Orange County, was killed in a bicycle accident on Alicia Parkway, on March 5.
 
CHP received reports around 9:55 a.m., on Alicia Parkway. Dispatchers arrived near Awma Road shortly after.
 
At this time, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear. However, reports indicate that an unidentified SUV struck Calvin on the roadway.
 
Calvin was later taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo for further treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Moreover, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department is currently handling the crash investigation to identify the cause of the incident.
 
The surrounding area on Alicia Parkway was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
