Jorge Urbina Lopez Arrested After Fatal Crash Kills Moffett Man, Slams Truck Through Home
Moffett, TX (April 25, 2025) – 70-year-old Robert Boles died Thursday morning after a horrific crash on FM 842.
According to authorities, the fatal incident happened around 6:54 a.m. on FM 842.
Reports say that authorities arrested Jorge Urbina Lopez after he allegedly caused the fatal crash that killed 70-year-old Boles.
The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash.
Authorities say that a pickup truck veered off the road, hit a tree, and then plowed completely through Boles’ home, resulting in his death. The driver fled the scene.
DPS troopers and a Texas Ranger launched an investigation while other officers tracked the damaged vehicle north along FM 842.
They found a heavily damaged Chevrolet pickup at a home on Wilkerson Road, hidden under a tarp and behind another vehicle.
Debris from the crash scene and mail belonging to Boles lay near the truck.
Investigators identified Lopez, a resident of the Wilkerson Road address, as the driver. Surveillance footage from a nearby store captured him and the pickup just five minutes before the crash.
After securing a search warrant, officers searched the Wilkerson Road home but did not find Lopez. They later located him hiding under a bed at another home on FM 842. After resisting arrest briefly, officers took him into custody at 12:45 p.m.
Lopez had over a dozen outstanding traffic warrants and multiple prior arrests. Authorities transported him to the Angelina County Jail. He faces pending felony charges for fleeing the scene of a fatal crash. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is also reviewing his immigration status, as he had previously been deported.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Robert Boles. May you find comfort and strength during this incredibly difficult time.
