No Injuries in Santa Ynez Accident on Highway 154

SANTA YNEZ, CA (June 3, 2020) – Last Monday, a big rig crash led to a road closure on westbound Highway 154 for multiple hours.

County Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli revealed that at around noon, personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded. The crash scene was at Highway 154 and 246.

Bertucelli added that the tractor-trailer’s cab blew out its front tire while approaching the roundabout.

As a result, the vehicle landed on its side. Afterwards, the driver didn’t report any injuries.

According to reports, the intermodal container truck was on the way to Santa Maria from the Port of Los Angeles.

Moreover, the incident caused a hazmat incident due to fluids that have spilled from the 18-wheeler’s cab. On the other hand, the crews managed to quickly contain the spill.

The authorities haven’t determined the content of the truck. Also, the vehicle didn’t show any placards that say hazardous materials were inside.
