Woman Killed and 1 Injured in Las Vegas Accident on 15 Freeway and Flamingo Road
LAS VEGAS, NV (September 17, 2020) – Wednesday morning, a road rage ended with a fatal crash on 15 Freeway and Flamingo Road.
The NHP came to the crash scene around 12:08 a.m. after receiving an initial report of a two-vehicle crash. Initially, the authorities thought that the crash was caused by a woman having a medical episode in the southbound lanes of 15 Freeway and Flamingo Road. Then, they located the woman inside a blue Nissan Versa.
“When the coroner arrived on scene around 4 a.m. and began to examine the body, the coroner discovered the victim, who is … a female in her late 30s, had a gunshot wound,” Lt. Ray Spencer revealed.
Spencer added that the woman worked at a downtown-area casino and was heading home.
Police suspect that someone shot the woman in the head as she drove. Then, her car crashed with a southbound Dodge Charger traveling on I-15. Furthermore, the Dodge Charger’s driver didn’t play a role in the shooting. Also, responders took the driver to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
“We still do not know exactly where the (woman’s) Nissan came from,” Spencer stated. “We are trying to determine if the Nissan was on the side of the road or if the Nissan was on the off-ramp getting off at Flamingo and then traveled through the dirt. What we are believing at this point — and it is speculation — is it is probably going to be a road rage-type incident.”
At this time, the authorities are withholding the identity of the woman due to pending family notification.
Authorities are urging anyone who saw the Nissan during the shooting to contact homicide detectives at 702-828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
May fond memories of the victim bring the bereaved family comfort during this time. Our hearts and prayers go out to those involved.
