Road Closure Caused by Lacey Car Crash
LACEY, WA (October 17, 2019) – A semi-truck crash caused road closure on Mullen Road on October 15.
According to reports, a semi crashed into a train trestle and spilled its cargo of chocolate peppermint covered pretzels. The crash led to road closure and railroad tracks closure.
Deputies and medics came to Mullen Road SE and Afflerbaugh Court SE at about 5:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a semi crash. Upon their arrival, they located a semi rig with its trailer ripped open and its cargo of pretzels scattered on the road, Lt. Ray Brady of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office revealed.
Unconfirmed reports revealed that the wreckage hit a car but it didn’t suffer any injury. Meanwhile, the semi driver didn’t suffer any injury as well.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the semi driver drove forward under the trestle even though the trailer was too tall to fit under it. She received citations for negligent driving, failure to obey signs warning about the bridge and failure to keep an electronic logbook.
Mullen Road remained closed while crews clean up and investigate the scene.
Authorities also shut down the railroad line temporarily for an inspection. They reopened it after finding out that the trestle has no damage.
