RIVERSIDE, CA – 1 Critically Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash at Jurupa Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard

Speeding Hit-and-Run Suspect Causes Major-Injury Crash on Jurupa Avenue in Riverside

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 5, 2019) – One person was critically injured following a three-vehicle collision Tuesday morning at a Riverside intersection, authorities said.
 
The collision happened around 6:00 a.m. at Jurupa Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard.
 
According to Riverside police, a GMC Yukon was speeding westbound on Jurupa Avenue and ran a red light. As it entered the intersection, it was struck by a southbound semi-truck. The impact caused the Yukon to lose control and crash into a Volkswagen Passat. Reports state that the Volkswagen was stopped at the red light.
 
The driver of the Yukon fled the scene on foot, leaving her front-seat passenger with life-threatening injuries. In addition, the passenger took the brunt of the side impact from the big rig.
 
The victim was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital and was listed in critical condition.
 
The Volkswagen driver suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized. The truck driver was unharmed.
 
Authorities are still investigating the incident and on the lookout for the suspect.
