52-Year-Old Woman Died after Hit-and-Run Collision on Santa Fe Avenue and 19th Street in Long Beach
LONG BEACH, CA (February 5, 2018) –A 52-year-old woman of Long Beach was killed but a hit-and-run driver in a pickup truck while waiting for a bus on Santa Fe Avenue and 19th Street on Monday night around 6:40 PM.
Officers arrived at the scene of the crash after receiving a report about a vehicle and pedestrian collision. Rita Felix sustained serious injuries and was found in the driveway on the 1900 block of Santa Fe Ave. Long Beach fire personnel took her to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries and died.
The investigation revealed that Felix was at a bus stop and stepped out into the road, when a pickup truck made a right turn onto Santa Fe Ave from westbound 19th St, and struck her. The pickup truck left the scene of the collision and was last seen driving east on Summit Street and then south on Harbor Avenue. Witnesses and investigators described the truck as an older Ford F-150 that was lifted and may have been silver or gray.
