Rider Dies in Southwest Freeway Wrong-Way Crash [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (June 24, 2023) – At about 1:40 a.m. on Friday, a male rider in his 40s sustained fatal injuries following a Southwest Freeway wrong-way crash.

The fatal crash took place near the Montrose Boulevard bridge on the northbound lanes near downtown.

According to the investigating officers, an SUV was southbound on the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with the motorcyclist. Afterward, both the SUV and the motorcycle caught fire.

Unfortunately, the motorcyclist died at the crash scene.

The SUV’s three occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, were not injured in the collision. However, the authorities said the SUV driver have shown possible signs of intoxication. There is no information how long the SUV driver was driving in the wrong direction.

In the meantime, the authorities are investigating the possible cause of the Houston fatal collision.
