1998 Harley-Davidson Rider Dies in Marvin Road Southeast Collision [Lacey, WA]

Lacey, WA (April 28, 2023) – On Wednesday, a 1998 Harley-Davidson rider, a 30-year-old man from Olympia, died in a Marvin Road Southeast collision.

The fatal incident occurred before 3:30 p.m. on the 100 block area near Martin Way. 

The responding medical team airlifted the rider to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he died Thursday morning.

Investigators said the motorcyclist was struck by a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by a 79-year-old Yelm man. 

Reports said the truck driver was towing a boat and tried to turn left onto Marvin Road from a private driveway but failed to yield to the motorcycle.

Neither the truck driver nor the adult passenger sustained injuries in the collision. 

Officers do not believe speed was a factor. Police said there have been no signs that either of the drivers was impaired. Possible charges will be evaluated as the investigation progresses.
