Rider in His 40s Killed in DUI Collision on Interstate 69 [Houston, TX]

Houston, TX (June 24, 2023) – At about 2 a.m. on Friday, a motorcycle rider in his 40s lost his life following a DUI collision on Interstate 69.

The motorcyclist died after he was struck head-on by the SUV driver who Houston police said may have been driving under the influence.

Officers believe the SUV driver got onto the 527 Spur going the wrong way.

Two people were inside the SUV when it collided with the motorcycle. Both of the vehicles then caught fire.

Officers at the accident scene conducted a field sobriety test on the SUV driver who is cooperating.

Luckily, one inside the SUV incurred serious injuries.

“According to our investigation, it appears that the driver that went the wrong way has signs of intoxication,” Sgt. Dionne Griffiths said. “The district attorney is on the scene now, processing the scene and gathering evidence. We’re probably going to try to charge that driver with intoxication manslaughter.”
