72-Year-Old Hospitalized after Vehicle Collision near Ramona Expressway, Angelica Huaste arrested

 
SAN JACINTO, CA (October 28, 2018) – A man was injured in a DUI crash on State Street, early Sunday morning. He was later identified as 72-year-old Richard Thomas, a resident of Yucaipa.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 4:10 AM, near Ramona Expressway, a few blocks south of Mt. San Jacinto College.
 
According to Riverside County sheriff’s officials, Thomas attempted to make a left turn from northbound State Street onto westbound Ramona Expressway. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Angelica Huaste, of San Jacinto was driving east on Ramona Expressway, when she entered the intersection the two vehicles collided.
 
Due to the impact of the crash, both vehicles sustained major damage. Thomas was hospitalized, though the extent of his injuries was not disclosed. Huaste was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing injury.
 
She was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center, but was released after posting $50,000 bail, according to jail records. No additional information has been released to the public, as the case is currently under investigation by officials.
