22-Year-Old Woman Dies, Police Arrested Richard Modolo in Crash on West Charleston Boulevard
Las Vegas, NV (April 11, 2021) – On Saturday, police arrested 69-year-old Richard Modolo in a fatal hit-and-run crash on West Charleston Boulevard.
The deadly crash took place before 8 a.m. near the intersection of Fort Apache Road.
Reports said a 2003 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound in the far-right lane of the boulevard. At the same time, a 22-year-old woman attempted to cross West Charleston Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk.
Unfortunately, the pedestrian was struck by the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver immediately fled the scene. However, detectives later located him.
Authorities arrested Modolo and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center.
Moreover, in March of this year, Metro made a plea due to an overwhelming increase in unsolved hit and run crashes. Specifically in accidents where the drivers left the scene, and the pedestrians were left to die on the side of the road.
Meanwhile, officers closed West Charleston Boulevard in both directions between Fort Apache Road and Windermere Drive as police investigated the incident.
They reopened them by midafternoon Saturday.
Authorities are still investigating the incident.
