One Dead and One Injured in Motorcycle-Bicycle Head-On Crash near Lake Boulevard
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (April 17, 2018) – A fatal head-on accident involving a motorcycle and bicycle took place on Shasta Dam Boulevard, just two miles west of Lake Boulevard, on Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Richard Machado of Marysville was riding a 2001 Honda 929 motorcycle west on Shasta Dam Blvd around 7:15 PM, when he collided with an unidentified bicyclist that was traveling eastbound.
The accident happened just three miles from the Shasta Dam. Sgt Greg Ross stated that the motorcyclist was heading uphill while the bicyclist was heading downhill at the time of the collision.
Mahado suffered major injuries and was transported to the Mercy Medical Center for treatment, while the bicyclist was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders. There is no update on Machado’s current condition, or the identity of the biker.
