23-Year-Old Man Fatally Injured in Accident on Riceton Highway North of Afton Road
BIGGS, CA (February 10, 2018) – A man who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Riceton Highway on Saturday morning has been identified by authorities.
Oroville police identified the deceased victim as 23-year-old Richard Dwain Benish of Durham. Benish was struck by a vehicle at around 12:35 AM on southbound Riceton Highway, north of Afton Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect vehicle fled the scene before authorities arrived. Police are still investigating the incident, and are urging anyone with more information about the collision to the Oroville CHP at (530) 538-1200.
