Police Arrest Oxnard Principal Richard Caldwell in Hit-and-Run DUI Crash on Telegraph Road

 
Ventura, CA (March 05, 2021) – On Monday, police arrested 39-year-old Richard Caldwell, a middle school principal, in a DUI hit-and-run crash on Telegraph Road.
 
Officers received the crash report at around 5:08 p.m. near Bryn Mawr Street.
 
When they arrived at the crash scene, they discovered two vehicles were involved in the accident wherein the other party incurred minor injuries.
 
Furthermore, Caldwell allegedly immediately left the scene after the crash. Police located him a short distance away.
 
Authorities arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and leaving the scene of a crash.
 
They booked him into Ventura County jail Monday night with bail set at $100,000, booking records show.
 
Meanwhile, police released him Tuesday on a bail bond.
 
Moreover, Caldwell is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court at 8:15 a.m. March 16. Though, it is unknown whether Caldwell has legal representation yet in the case.
 
The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has not yet received the case file from Ventura police, but they expect to get the file before the scheduled court date.
