Tupman Big-Rig Collision Results in Evacuation

TUPMAN, CA (March 5, 2020) – Late Monday evening, residents near Tupman evacuated the area after a dangerous big-rig collision.

The Kern County Fire Department revealed that they responded around 11:15 P.M., just outside the city of Tupman. When the firefighters arrived, they located a big-rig hauling compressed natural gas, off the road with the driver trapped inside.

Emergency crews used the “jaws of life” to free the driver from the big-rig. Meanwhile, the other fire crews monitored the area for any leaking gas.

Responders then took the driver by ground ambulance to a hospital for treatment. However, there has been no update on their current condition at this time.

Moreover, the surrounding area was closed while nearby residents evacuated due to the natural gases that were leaked from the vehicle. The KCFD Hazmat Team were called to conduct further air monitoring.

Meanwhile, the current condition of the driver remains unknown as of this time.
