Four Killed after 2 Motorcycles Crash Head-On at Santiago Canyo and Modjeska Canyon Roads
SILVERADO, CA (July 7, 2019) – Four people were killed in a crash involving two motorcycles Sunday afternoon in Orange County.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. at Santiago Canyon and Modjeska Canyon roads, in the hills south of Irvine Lake and northeast of Lake Forest. Each motorcycle was carrying a driver and a passenger.
The crash happened when a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling northbound on Santiago Canyon apparently tried to pass a vehicle and ended up in southbound lanes, colliding head-on into a Honda motorcycle, according to a witness.
The impact ejected all four occupants, including one woman who ended up over the ravine. They were all pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the crash victims Monday as Regina Michelle Crowder, 48, of Fountain Valley; Jon Michael Schwarz, 50, of Tustin; David Mark Terman, 59, of Santa Ana; and Edith Mae Hegy, 62, of Elko, Nevada.
The Santiago Canyon Road was closed in both directions at Hicks Road for a few hours while officers investigated, but has since reopened, officials said.
Our condolences remain with the families and friends of the victims involved in this sudden tragedy. We hope they are brought peace and comfort at this time.
