Car Clips Pickup Truck in Collision near Miramar Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 16, 2018) – Reckless driving led to a car crash on 15 Freeway, late Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 4:50 PM in the northbound lanes of the highway, near Miramar Road.

Witnesses stated seeing a man driving a maroon Scion around 90 mph, weaving in and out of lanes, driving on the shoulders, and yelling at other motorists.

The vehicle then sideswiped the center divider wall several times and clipped a utility pickup truck in the Escondido area. CHP officers from the Temecula area and north San Diego County attempted to find the driver, whose dangerous driving stunts continued until about 5:35 PM. That is when he lost control and crashed near the exit for state Route 79.

Due to the impact of the collision, the vehicle overturned and came to a rest on its side. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the identity of the reckless driver was not immediately released. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors.

Additional information will be released once it becomes available.

It is important to always be aware and alert when behind the wheel of a car, truck, or bus. Stay within the speed limit, and follow the rules of the road to prevent any dangerous accidents, keeping yourself and others safe on the road.
