Rebecca Schmidt Injured, Richard Zapata Arrested in Yuba County Suspected DUI Crash

 
Yuba County, CA (June 03, 2021) – On May 30, 56-year-old Rebecca Schmidt of Browns Valley was injured, and police arrested 34-year-old Richard Zapata of Browns Valley in a suspected DUI crash on Scott Forbes Road.
 
Apparently, Zapata was driving an eastbound Subaru Forester on Scott Forbes Road.
 
At the same time, Schmidt was riding her bicycle eastbound on the same road.
 
Zapata’s vehicle allegedly struck her. As a result, she incurred a severe lower leg injury.
 
Then, Zapata drove Schmidt to her house where she made an emergency call.
 
Responders airlifted Schmidt to Sutter Roseville Hospital. He was admitted with severe injuries.
 
Later on, Zapata, who suffered a small laceration to his lip. She was arrested by CHP on suspicion of driving under the influence.
