HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (April 1, 2019) – A man died following a hit-and-run bicycle collision in Huntington Beach on Saturday, March 30.

The coroner’s office identified the victim as 33-year-old Raymond MacDonald.

Officers received reports of the incident around 2:11 a.m. at Beach Boulevard and Adams Avenue. They discovered the bicyclist in the road with significant injuries to his head and body, according to Huntington Beach Motor Sgt. Eric Warken. He died at the scene.

Authorities found the involved vehicle about half a mile away slammed into a tree, Warken stated. The black BMW sustained damage to the front end, hood, and windshield.

Officers located the driver, a 25-year-old man from Garden Grove, on foot approximately one mile away, according to Warken.

The initial investigation showed that the driver was heading west on Adams Avenue when he struck the bicyclist, who was in the east crosswalk. After that, the driver continued on and collided with the tree, then left the scene.
