Passenger Injured in Mead 2-Vehicle Crash
Mead, WA (January 10, 2025) – The authorities arrested 56-year-old Raymond Jones following a Doak Road DUI crash Sunday afternoon.
The authorities responded around 4:30 p.m. to the collision near Argonne Road.
Troopers said Raymond Jones was reportedly driving a northbound Ford F-150 erratically on Argonne Road.
He crossed the centerline near the intersection and crashed head-on with a southbound car carrying two adults and a teenager.
The 17-year-old passenger was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, Jones told the authorities he thought he was driving on Bigelow Gulch Road and was driving home after stopping for a drink. He mentioned he consumed a shot of whiskey and several beers.
Officers said Jones smelled of alcohol and they obtained a search warrant to take a blood sample from Jones for testing.
Later on, police booked Jones into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault.
A judge set his bond at $25,000 during his court appearance.
Safety First
Always remember to plan for a sober driver to take you home. If you’re the designated driver, it’s important to take the role seriously and don’t consume alcohol or use other drugs. Here are some more safety tips:
Never drink and drive.
- Don’t let someone get behind the wheel if that person has been drinking.
- If you’re hosting a gathering, make sure everyone has a sober ride home.
- Call 911 if you see a drunk driver.
- Always wear your seat belt. It’s your best defense against impaired drivers.
Just one drink before driving can put you and others in danger because alcohol impairs thinking, reasoning, and muscle coordination. Impaired driving poses a serious threat to road safety. It increases the risk of accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Alcohol and drugs impair judgment, reaction time, and coordination, making it difficult for drivers to safely operate a vehicle. By choosing not to drink and drive, you are taking an important step towards protecting yourself and others on the road.
Always prioritize safety and never drive under the influence. Accidents caused by impaired driving can result in injuries, legal consequences, and lasting trauma. If you or a loved one has been injured, seek medical care immediately and consult legal professionals to protect your rights.
