2 People Hurt in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Phairfield Street and Powder River Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 24, 2023) – Friday night, authorities arrested Raymond Allen Leonard after a startling DUI crash on Phairfield Street.
The incident happened at around 7:35 p.m. on Phairfield Street and Powder River Avenue.
According to CHP Officer Tomas Martinez, an eastbound 2012 Dodge Charger failed to negotiate a turn and veered across Phairfield Street and into a home.
Moreover, responders transported a 5-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy who were both in the bedroom of the home, to Kern Medical for major injuries.
Furthermore, officers arrested and booked the Dodge driver, 57-year-old Raymond Allen Leonard into the Kern County Jail for driving under the influence and causing injury.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
