Rayder Johnson Sought by Police after Fiery Pursuit Crash near Jonathan Avenue and Bridge Street [Cherry Valley, CA]

Rayder Johnson Identified as Driver that Caused a Fiery Pursuit Crash

 
CHERRY VALLEY, CA (June 2, 2019)  — A man that fled from the police and caused a fiery crash has been identified as Rayder William Johnson.
 
Beaumont Police Department is still searching for the 48-year-old man for allegedly fleeing from cops and leading them on a pursuit from Beaumont into Cherry Valley. After a short chase, his vehicle collided into a fence near Bogart Park. He then took off running from the vehicle together with a female passenger, according to police.
 
Police said that it all started when a person heard a woman screaming “contact 911” in the 700 block of Cedar View Drive at about 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29.
 
The witness then found a white Ford Mustang fleeing the location at a high rate of speed, Beaumont police said. Officers rushed to the vicinity and found a vehicle that matched the description. They tried to conduct an investigative stop on the vehicle. However, the driver failed to stop and led officers on a police chase into Cherry Valley.
 
The driver then went to Winesap Avenue, near the back entrance to Bogart Park. He collided in a nearby field, off Jonathan Avenue and Bridge Street.
 
The crash ignited a small brush fire that sent a small smoke plume into the area for a short time.
 
Officers from various departments set up a perimeter and started to search for the subjects. CalFire gave assistance with the brush fire, police stated.
 
Authorities found the woman and detained her. However, after a few hours, police left the area without finding Johnson. They have not yet identified the woman.
 
As of late Wednesday night, police stated that the male driver remained at large.
