Ravneel Vilash of Hayward Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on East Santa Clara Street [San Jose, CA]

San Jose, CA (September 03, 2021) – On Thursday, 22-year-old Ravneel Vilash of Hayward died in a hit-and-run crash on East Santa Clara Street.

Officers received the crash report at about 10:32 p.m. wherein three vehicles were involved.

Officers said the driver of a westbound black 2005 BMW sedan ran a red light and struck a gray 2010 Nissan SUV southbound on 10th Street. 

The impact of the crash sent the Nissan into a sidewalk barrier and storefront on the intersection’s southwest corner.

Afterward, the BMW pinballed into a black 2012 Acura SUV facing the opposite direction. Then, the BMW driver fled from the scene, leaving behind his totaled car. The driver also left the severely injured occupants in the Nissan.

Vilash, an occupant of the Nissan died at the scene. Authorities revealed the victim’s identity as Hayward resident Ravneel Vilash.

Meanwhile, rescuers rushed the Nissan’s driver and another passenger to the hospital with moderate to major injuries. The Acura’s driver was not hurt in the crash.
