Raul Lopez-Hernandez Killed, Leandra Ramirez Hurt after Wrong-Way Crash on 82 Freeway [Sunnyside, WA]

1 Dead and 1 Injured in Sunnyside Car Crash

 
SUNNYSIDE, WA (September 24, 2019) – A 43-year-old man died and a woman sustained injuries in a wrong-way crash on 82 Freeway.
 
Raul Lopez-Hernandez of Sunnyside, the Toyota Camry driver, died in the head-on collision on September 20.
 
As Raul Lopez-Hernandez drove the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of the highway, just one mile east of Sunnyside, his Camry crashed into a Buick Verano.
 
Leandra P. Ramirez drove the Buick in the 10:20 p.m. crash. Responders transported the 21-year-old Benton City woman to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.
 
According to a state patrol report, troopers are still unsure whether drugs or alcohol played a role. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
