Raphael Woodard Killed, Passenger Injured in Crash With Pole on Limonite Avenue Near Ave Juan Bautista

 
JURUPA VALLEY, CA (July 23, 2019) – A Riverside man died Saturday in a high-speed crash on Limonite Avenue near Ave Juan Bautista.
 
Police identified the 34-year-old victim as Raphael Woodard from the single-vehicle accident.
 
The accident drew Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters and AMR medics to the scene. Around 12:45 p.m., they responded to reports of a small vehicle that slammed into a traffic pole.
 
According to witnesses, the crash ejected one person. In addition, police identified the ejected victim as a passenger in the car. Arriving crews found another unresponsive victim – Woodard – trapped inside the car. As a result, authorities used the Jaws of Life to extricate him. However, despite life-saving efforts Woodward succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, paramedics brought the passenger to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
 
Following the crash, authorities determined that the Toyota lost control while traveling at a high rate of speed along westbound Limonite Avenue. The vehicle subsequently careered out of control as it tried switching lanes and plowed into the light pole.
 
The investigation continues and so far, intoxication does not appear to be a factor.
