Ramon Alvarez-Cerrillos Killed in Yuma County Accident

Yuma, AZ (October 12, 2021) – On Sunday, 75-year-old, Ramon Alvarez-Cerrillos from Yuma lost his life in a bicycle crash on Fortuna Road.

The authorities responded to the crash scene a few minutes after 7:00 p.m. at the intersection with Mesa Del Sol.

“The initial investigation revealed that the bicyclist was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes on Fortuna Road,” an officer said.  “An uninvolved vehicle traveling northbound, swerved to avoid colliding with the bicyclist.  The driver of a red Polaris RZR traveling behind the uninvolved vehicle was unable to change lanes in time and struck the bicyclist.”

Immediately, they took the victim to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries

Meanwhile, the deceased’s next of kin has been notified. Also, the officers are investigating this fatal crash, though, they said that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.”
