18-Year-Old Rafael Corte-Zulloa Arrested in South Lake Tahoe Hit-And-Run Crash

 
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (July 16, 2019) – On Tuesday, police arrested 18-year-old Rafael Corte-Zulloa after a hit-and-run accident on Lake Tahoe Boulevard.
 
According to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, the collision happened near Lakeview Avenue. Authorities stated that Corte-Zulloa drove a dark-colored Audi A4 during the incident. Corte-Zulloa then struck a female cyclist. In addition, he fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.
 
Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after. First responders transported the victim to a local hospital. They stated she was conscious. However, her medical condition is currently unknown.
 
Law enforcement eventually found the vehicle on Los Angeles Avenue. As a result, police found and arrested Corte-Zulloa. In other words, he is charged with felony hit-and-run causing injury at El Dorado County Jail.
 
Police did not release the identity of the victim to the public.
 
The surrounding area was closed for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. Police did not announce further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
