Woman Dies in Tragic Pedestrian Accident Near 3rd Street [Fresno, CA]

Rachel Vanderpool Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Cesar Chavez Boulevard in Fresno

Fresno, CA (November 20, 2024) On Tuesday evening, a tragic pedestrian accident near 3rd Street claimed the life of Rachel Vanderpool, 41.

According to Fresno police, the fatal crash happened at about 6:12 p.m. near the intersection with Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

Reports say that transient Rachel Vanderpool was killed in southeast Fresno on Tuesday evening.

Authorities say that a vehicle struck the woman near Cesar Chavez Boulevard and 3rd Street, officials say that the woman had stepped into the roadway from the center median when the vehicle hit her.

Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with authorities.

As police investigate, the eastbound lanes of Cesar Chavez Boulevard between 2nd Street and 3rd Street remain closed.
