Wrong-Way Driver Kills 28-Year-Old Driver Following Crash Along State Route 89A
Prescott, AZ (August 6, 2021) – A wrong-way driver caused a crash along State Route 89A and left one person dead on Thursday midnight.
According to the Prescott Police, the incident occurred on August 5 along State Route 89A just before 1 a.m.
Police said that the 38-year-old Prescott man was driving his truck westbound on the highway in the eastbound lane. Then, his truck went under the overpass at Granite Dells Parkway.
As a result, his truck collided head-on with a smaller vehicle.
Due to the impact of the collision, the 28-year-old driver of the small passenger vehicle from Prescott Valley died. Meanwhile, the truck driver sustained critical injuries and was brought to a hospital near Phoenix. However, there has been no update regarding his current condition.
Authorities have not released the identification of the now-deceased victim.
Furthermore, the preliminary duties and investigation prompted the closure of the roadway for hours.
Police are still investigating the crash and they believed impairment was a factor.
