DUI Police Chase in Lancaster Killed Mom and Unborn Child

 
Lancaster, CA (September 9, 2020) – On Monday, a pregnant woman and her unborn child were killed in a police chase on Avenue J-8 and 10th Street West.
 
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on September 7.
 
A deputy noticed a reckless drunk driver in a gray Dodge Ram 1500 moving eastbound on Avenue K at 12th Street West. Immediately, the deputy tried to stop the driver but he did not stop. Thus, started in a police chase.
 
The pickup truck did not to stop for the red traffic signal as it entered the intersection of Avenue J-8 and 10th Street West. As a result, it crashed with a red Dodge Avenger.
 
The suspect fled the scene on foot before the authorities arrived.
 
Paramedics rushed the pregnant Avenger driver to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she and her unborn child later died.
 
The coroner’s office did not release the woman’s identity pending notification of her relatives.
