FONTANA, CA (August 29, 2018) – A pregnant woman was hospitalized Wednesday evening following a DUI crash on Catawba Avenue.

According to Fontana Police officials, the incident took place shortly after 7:00 PM. A northbound car stopped at a stop sign at San Bernardino Avenue then proceeded through; however, an eastbound vehicle did not stop at the intersection and T-boned the northbound driver.

She was forced to deliver her child prematurely, and the newborn is currently in critical condition. Meanwhile, the other driver was also hospitalized with minor injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The identities of the parties involved were not immediately released. Additional information was not disclosed to the public, as an investigation is ongoing at this time.

Do not get behind the wheel of a car if you find yourself under the influence of drugs or alcohol. By being responsible, you can keep yourself and others on the road safe. When buzzed or drunk, it is best to request an Uber, Lyft, or a taxi. If possible, reach out to a family member or a friend to come and pick you up.
