Pregnant Woman Airlifted to Hospital After Vehicle Crash on Amethyst Road and La Mesa Road

 
Victorville, CA (August 9, 2020) – On Friday, a pregnant woman was severely injured in a vehicle crash on Amethyst Road and La Mesa Road.
 
The crash happened at about 11:30 PM. Victorville Fire Department, Victorville Police Department deputies and two American Medical Response (AMR) ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
 
The firefighters found two severely damaged vehicles. A gray 2018 Toyota Camry and a dark-colored sedan that has a woman trapped inside.
 
Immediately, authorities extricated the woman from the vehicle and called for a helicopter to transport her to a trauma center.
 
Moreover, the Camry driver, Jaalen “Jay” Thompson, told Victor Valley News that he was moving westbound on La Mesa Road on a green light. Just then, a dark sedan that was traveling southbound on Amethyst Road struck him.
 
Thompson did not sustain major injuries, but the rescuers rushed his girlfriend who is pregnant to a local hospital for an evaluation.
 
“The dark-colored sedan ran the red light and smacked my car,” Thompson stated, “She was also pregnant.”
 
Meanwhile, authorities closed the intersection while they investigated the crash. They reopened it as of 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.
