Police Searches for Hit-and-Run Suspect Following Fatal Crash on Broadway and 54th Street [Los Angeles, CA]

Pedestrian Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on Broadway and 54th Street, Suspect at Large

Los Angeles, CA (August 13, 2021) – Police are looking for the suspect in a hit-and-run crash on Broadway and 54th Street that killed a pedestrian on Wednesday.

Los Angeles Police Department reported that the crash occurred on August 12 at Broadway and 54th Street around 10 p.m. 

According to the report, the male pedestrian in his 50s was crossing Broadway in a designated crosswalk. However, the man was walking against a “Do Not Walk” signal when a light-colored ‘Wrecker Tow Truck’ struck him. 

LAPD said in a statement that the truck that was traveling northbound dragged the pedestrian 180 feet before it dislodged him. The truck stopped for a moment however, the driver continued driving.

Los Angeles County coroner’s office confirmed that the victim died at the scene. However, his identification has not been released as of writing.

A $50,000 reward is available from Los Angeles city to those who will be able to identify the suspect. Furthermore, authorities uploaded a security video of the incident at https://youtu.be/taFu53XKCC8.
