1 Hurt in Monroe Motorcycle Accident on US 2 and Lewis Street

MONROE, WA (January 28, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, a police officer suffered injuries in a DUI crash on US 2 and Lewis Street.

According to reports, at 3:18 p.m., a Subaru station wagon rear-ended the police motorcycle. The incident happened on US 2 and Lewis Street, the Monroe Police Department revealed.

Afterward, an ambulance transported the officer to EvergreenHealth Monroe with non-life-threatening injuries.

The authorities noted that the hospital is located a mile east of the crash scene.

Meanwhile, the Washington State Patrol arrested the 35-year-old Subaru driver from Monroe, for investigation of DUI.

Furthermore, the crash briefly blocked traffic in both directions. Also, authorities detoured the eastbound traffic during the investigation.

When driving, it’s important to follow the posted speed limit and to yield to other drivers during uncertain driving situations.

We may not always know what other drivers are thinking. However, if we approach situations with care, we’ll have a likelier chance of averting a collision.
