SANTA PAULA, CA (July 5, 2021) – Sunday night, a police officer suffered injuries in a DUI crash on Steckel Drive and Estriga Court.
 
The crash happened at around 11:04 p.m. near Steckel Drive and Estriga Court. Also, the authorities responded after receiving a report of illegal fireworks being launched.
 
As the Santa Paula police officer stood outside of his patrol car, a vehicle drove north on Steckel Drive. Then, the vehicle hit the driver’s side door of the patrol car. Then, the other vehicle veered and struck the officer.
 
Thus, the Ventura County Fire Department came to the scene. Then, they took the officer to a local hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. Early Monday, the hospital released the officer.
 
The CHP determined that the 40-year-old vehicle driver of Santa Paula had a blood alcohol level greater than the legal limit of 0.08%.
 
As a result, the authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of felony DUI-related offenses. They booked him into the Ventura County jail.
