2 People Dead in Phoenix Auto Accident on Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway
PHOENIX, AZ (June 2, 2021) – Monday night, police officer Ginarro New died in a DUI crash on Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway.
According to the Phoenix police, a crash at about 10:45 p.m. involved 27-year-old Ginarro New. The incident occurred on Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway.
The preliminary information stated that Officer New traveled south on Cave Creek Road. As he entered the intersection at Greenway Parkway, a car struck his vehicle. Then, the impact caused the officer’s vehicle to struck a brick wall and went into a gas station parking lot.
A witness revealed that the driver that crashed into Ginarro New’s vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed. As a result, the vehicle failed to yield at a red light.
The authorities identified the suspect vehicle’s driver as 31-year-old Christopher Castro. However, Castro also succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that speed and impairment by Castro played a role in the crash.
Chief Jeri Williams said that responders transported the officer to an area early Tuesday morning. However, he later died of his injuries.
