SOLEDAD, CA (November 18, 2021) – Tuesday, Police Chief Damon Wasson suffered injuries in a deadly crash near Nestles Road.
 
According to reports, a police chase led to a death of a pedestrian. Also, two officers sustained injuries, including Soledad Police Chief Damon Wasson.
 
Reports confirmed that Chief Wasson hit the car of a driver head-on. The said driver struck and killed a pedestrian while on a chase that began in Greenfield.
 
The initial incident happened when the suspect drove erratically through the city. The authorities suspect that he may have been under the influence.
 
As the officers pursued the suspect, the driver jumped on the 101 Freeway north toward Soledad.
 
Then, the suspect went into the downtown area and tried to hit people walking in the area. Afterward, the suspect went into a shopping center and struck a police vehicle. As a result, one Greenfield officer and Chief Wasson sustained injuries.
 
Then, the driver struck an older man walking near Nestles Road and Front Street.
 
Eventually, the authorities arrested the suspect and will be charged with murder.
 
The authorities continue to investigate the crash.
