1 Dead in Harris County Auto Accident on Veterans Memorial Drive and Bammel North Houston Road
HARRIS COUNTY, TX (December 3, 2023) – Saturday morning, a horrific police chase crash on Veterans Memorial Drive and Bammel North Houston Road killed 1 person.
Initially, the authorities noticed a vehicle driving recklessly at about 12:43 a.m. near Rankin Road and Kuykendahl Road.
Thus, the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled which led to a pursuit. Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly turned off their headlights.
As the vehicle arrived at the Veterans Memorial Drive and Bammel North Houston Road intersection, it hit another vehicle and lost control.
Afterward, the suspects’ vehicle collided with a pickup truck.
Moreover, reports confirmed that four people occupied the car during the pursuit. Then, responders took three of them to the hospital in stable condition. Meanwhile, one person was stuck in the wreckage and died at the scene.
Officers confirmed that all occupants were 16 or 17 years old.
Then, responders took one person in another vehicle to the hospital in stable condition.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office handles the crash investigation.
Also, after being discharged from the hospital, the teenage driver was taken to the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center. The driver was currently facing charges of felony murder and evading in a motor vehicle.
