Fullerton, CA (January 3, 2025) On Thursday afternoon, a horrifying plane accident near Fullerton Municipal Airport left 2 people dead and 18 others injured.

According to Fullerton Police (FPD), the tragic incident happened at about 2:09 p.m. on a commercial building near the Fullerton Municipal Airport.

Reports say that the small plane crash killed two people and injured 18 others.

Authorities say that the aircraft plummeted into the roof of a commercial building sparking a fire that damaged the structure.

Emergency responders from the Fullerton Police and Fire Departments quickly arrived, extinguished the flames, and evacuated nearby businesses, said police spokesperson Kristy Wells. The impacted warehouse, identified as Michael Nicholas Designs, housed sewing machines and textile supplies.

Of the 18 injured, ten individuals required hospitalization, while eight others received treatment on-site. The two fatalities were confirmed by police, but their identities and whether they were passengers or on the ground remain unclear.

Preliminary data from FlightAware indicated the aircraft, a four-seat single-engine plane, crashed roughly a minute after takeoff. Security footage from a nearby business captured the fiery explosion as the plane descended, tilted on its side.

The crash occurred near Fullerton Municipal Airport, a general aviation facility with one runway and a heliport. This incident follows a similar crash last November, where another small plane struck a tree during an emergency landing near the airport, injuring two people.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of Thursday’s crash.
