Early Morning High-Speed Crash on 80 Freeway in Pinole Ends in Fatality

 
PINOLE, CA (January 30, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a high-speed rollover crash early Wednesday morning in Pinole.
 
The crash happened around 1:11 a.m. on westbound 80 Freeway at Pinole Valley Road off-ramp.
 
According to an initial report by the CHP, one vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed. It then overturned and caught fire. At least two other vehicles were involved, but no further details were provided.
 
A SigAlert was issued in the area, blocking all freeway lanes to bring in emergency vehicles.
 
Responding crews and a coroner confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the crash.
 
Further details, including the identity of the deceased, were not immediately available. An investigation of this fatal crash is still ongoing.
