Los Angeles, CA (January 03, 2021) – On New Year’s Day, a person died in a tragic pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway.
 
The fatal crash took place at around 11:10 p.m. in the Cypress Park area.
 
A witness told the California Highway Patrol that a vehicle struck a pedestrian south of the Arroyo Seco Parkway.
 
When responders arrived, the paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene at 11:35 P.M.
 
The authorities withheld the deceased’s identity.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP issued a SigAlert at 11:34 P.M. They closed lanes 1, 2, and 3 of the northbound Golden State Freeway.
 
Authorities canceled the SigAlert at 3:19 a.m. and reopened all lanes.
