58-Year-Old Man Killed in Selma Pedestrian Accident on Rose Avenue and Highland Avenue

 
SELMA, CA (April 25, 2022) – Friday night, authorities arrested Pedro Epigmeneo Cortez after a deadly pedestrian crash on Rose Avenue.
 
The incident occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on Rose Avenue and Highland Avenue.
 
According to reports, 57-year-old Pedro Epigmeneo Cortez of Selma drove a Nissan Versa on Rose Avenue. Then, he struck a 58-year-old male pedestrian walking within the westbound lane of Rose.
 
After the crash, responders declared the man dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, Cortez failed to stop and fled the scene. Eventually, deputies found Cortez at his home, and was under the influence of alcohol.
 
Then, authorities booked him into the Fresno County Jail on DUI felony charges.
